Signing in to “gala.ecclesfield.googlepages.com”

To edit your web pages, bring up a web browser such as “Internet Explorer” -, and type…

Ø     gala.ecclesfield.googlepages.com

 

into the top-leftmost box of your Web browser (I.e. not a search box).


For example, using “Internet Explorer 7.0”, in “Windows XP style”, you should see…

 

 

Then press the Enter key .

 

When the “Ecclesfield gala” homepage is displayed, then click on the link at the bottom-left of the page saying…

 

Ø     Webmasters can edit these pages by clicking here

 

(If a “secure network” Alert appears, press Enter to  OK  it).

 

(If the Email: box does not read “gala.ecclesfield” then click Sign in as a different user, close the window and repeat).

 

The Google Accounts “Sign in” screen will then appear. Just type…

 

Ø      <password as provided>

 

which should show as ***********   In the Password: box. Then press Enter.

 

If (E.g. 3) “secure network” Alerts appear, press Enter to say  Yes  or OK.  The “Google Page Creator” screen will then appear.

 

Ø     Click on the homepage icon -

 

 

 

The “Ecclesfield gala” homepage will then re-appear in the “Edit page:” window (ignore the dotted lines and the wEb mEssAgEs  Referred page not valid!” which sometimes appears).


 

To edit the website

 

After signing in, the web pages can be edited in much the same way as using a word processor. For example, by positioning the cursor using the mouse, and then deleting or typing new text as required. Some features require special editing. For instance:-

 

To change the “location” at which the group meets…

 

Ø     Click on the link clicking here to see a map

Ø     Click on change .

Ø     Then modify the postcode immediately following…

               http://maps.google.co.uk/?q=

     Click  OK .

 

To display a new blank message board…

 

Ø     click anywhere in the   wEb mEssAgEs  box.

Ø     Click on [Edit] just underneath or just above the box.

Ø     Change the “User code”, at top-left of the “Setup your gadget” window, for example by adding one to the number at the end of the existing “User code”.

Ø     Click  OK .

 

 

When finished editing…

 

Ø     Update the date at bottom-right following “edited on .

 

Ø     Click on   near the top-left of the “Edit page:” window.

 

Ø     Click on  Sign out  at the very top-right of the “Edit page:” window.

 

If (4) “secure” or “non-secure” Alerts appear, press Enter to say  Yes  or  OK  to each of them.

 

Ø     Close the browser, E.g. by clicking on at the top-right of Internet Explorer.

 

 

 


To read and reply to emails

 

To view emails received by gala.ecclesfield@gmail.com, bring up a web browser such as “Internet Explorer” -, and type…

Ø     gala.ecclesfield.googlepages.com

 

into the top-leftmost box of your Internet browser (I.e. an address box, not a search box).
For example, using “Internet Explorer 7.0”, in “Windows XP style”, you should see…

 

 

Then press the Enter key .

 

When the Ecclesfield gala Group homepage is displayed, click on the link at the bottom-left of the page saying…

 

Ø     or go to their email box by clicking here

 

(If a “secure network” Alert appears, press Enter to  OK  it).

 

(If the Email: box does not read “gala.ecclesfield…” then click Sign in as a different user, close the window and repeat).

 

The Google Accounts “Sign in” screen will then appear. Just type…

which should show as *********** in the Password: box. Then press Enter.

 

(If (3) “secure network” Alerts appear, press Enter to say  Yes  or OK ). The Google Mail screen will then appear with each line showing the sender, title, and date of an email. New emails, which have not been viewed before are shown in bold.

 

Ø     To display an email, Just click anywhere on the line.

 

To reply to a displayed email…

 

Ø     Click  Reply  at the top-right of the email.

Ø     Type your reply into the top of the large box near the bottom of the screen.

Ø     Press    Send    .

Ø     To see the list of emails again, click Inbox or << Back to Inbox.

Ø     Click on  Sign out  at the very top-right of the “Edit page:” window.

If (E.g. 4) “secure” or “non-secure” Alerts appear, press Enter to say  Yes  or  OK .

Ø     Close the browser, E.g. by clicking on at the top-right of Internet Explorer.
